Enrollment Dates

All prospective students must attend orientation before classes begin.  Students may begin barber/stylist training on the 1st Tuesday of the month, provided all required paperwork and documents have been received and an open position is available. Should enrollment be full, the student will be placed on a waiting list and he or she will be given an approximate start date. The prospective student will be notified of the next available opening and will have 48 hours to accept or reject.

Barber/Stylist Course and Curriculum

Courses will consist of theory (book work) and supervised individual or group “hands on instruction”.

Course Objective

To effectively train competent and professional barbers and stylists by equipping them with basic and advanced (practical and scientific) skills necessary to successfully pass the State exam, legally enter the profession, and efficiently practice the art of science of the professional Barber/Stylist.

4. Decontamination, Infection Control, Safe Work Practices and First Aid
5. Implements, Tools, Equipment
6. Properties and Disorders of the skin, scalp, and hair.
7. Treatment of Hair & Scalp
8. Facial Massage and Treatment
9. Shaving
10. Hair cutting
11. Hair styling
12. Mustache and Beard Design

13. Permanent Waving
14. Chemical Hair Relaxing and Soft Curl Permanents
15. Hair coloring
16. Men’s Hairpieces
17. Nails, Nail Disorders, and Manicures
18. Electricity and Light Therapy
19. Chemistry
20. Anatomy and Physiology
21. The Job Search
22. Selling in the Barber-Styling Shop
23. Barber-Styling Shop Management
24. State Board Preparation and Licensing Laws

Graduation Requirements

Students must satisfy all course requirements and complete 1500 hours to be eligible for graduation. Upon graduation, students will be eligible to apply for the State Board Examination.

** Remember, all financial obligations must be met before a final affidavit and diploma will be granted.
